Hal's Fone Fiasco
This has not been a good week for me. I'm not a particularly spiritual person, but I always keep an eye on my behavior in relationship to my kharma. I try not to kill insects, I treat others as I would like to be treated, I try to be helpful to strangers. And I'm honest, for the most part.. Having said that, I honestly do not know what I did to deserve this current state of affairs I find myself in.
A little back story. Earlier this month, my wife came over to my studio and called MCI to have my fax line disconnected. She used the phone on the fax machine on the fax line to make no mistake that this was the line she wanted disconnected. She reiterated the number at least a dozen times. Should have been the end of the story.
On Monday it comes to my attention that my business phone has been disconnected and is playing the message to the effect that "the number you have reached 802-..........is no longer in service". I immediately called MCI and spent about an hour and a half being run around to various rings of hell in the MCI infrastructure. Finally it was determind that the office I really needed to speak with was closed for the day.
The next morning I contacted MCI's executive customer service dept. and explained the problem. I was told it would take from 24 hours to TWO WEEKS to get the matter resolved. Apparently MCI leases local service and the problem is in the local service. A work order has been issued to resovle the problem, but it is not as simple as just flipping a switch. I asked if the message currently playing on my business line could be changed, directing people to my fax line, which by the way, works like a charm. I was told that MCI cannot have two work orders issued for the same line in the pipe line.
The reason for writing this is two fold. First, it feels good to vent. Secondly, if an AD is reading this and perhaps has a huge ad job for me but is perplexed by my disconnected phone. Please call my rep at 212-889-3337. Thank you.
Update: I finally got my business phone back online after 5 days without service. I am presently negotiating with MCI about renumeration.
